The Prius that came back after eleven years
A Luscious Garage customer from 2015, same car, second hybrid battery. A look at what the records say about the first one.

A 2007 Prius came in this week that we last saw in 2015, when the shop was called Luscious Garage. Same owner, same car, and a hybrid battery that has now been replaced twice.
What the old record said
The first pack went in 2015 at just over 180,000 miles, and the notes from that job are still attached to the car. That is one of the quieter arguments for keeping records properly: eleven years later, someone can read what was done and why.
It also meant we could tell the owner something useful straight away. The first replacement lasted eleven years and roughly ninety thousand more miles, which is a good outcome and sets a fair expectation for this one.
Why the second one failed differently
The first pack failed the way most do, with one block collapsing under load. This one had drifted more evenly, which usually means age rather than a single bad module, and the block data confirmed it. A module swap would not have held.
The cooling duct, again
Blocked, as it usually is on a car that has carried a dog for a decade. Cleaning it is part of every hybrid battery job here, because a pack installed into a car that cannot cool it is a repair with a countdown attached.
What this car says about the question people ask most
Owners ask whether a hybrid is worth keeping past a certain age. This one is nineteen years old, on its third battery counting the original, and it is a perfectly good car that costs very little to run. The answer depends entirely on the condition of everything that is not the battery.
