We train technicians, including our own, on the clock.
The trade is short of people who can work safely on high-voltage vehicles. Earthling runs an EV-specific training programme for its own crew and for technicians elsewhere, because the alternative is a shortage that gets worse.
High voltage, taught by people who do the work.
Jack Rosebro runs the programme, and everything in it comes out of jobs that came through these bays.
De-energising, and proving it
How to shut a vehicle down, how to verify it is actually de-energised rather than assume it, the protective equipment, and how to test that the equipment still works. Rehearsed rather than remembered.
Reading a pack properly
Block voltages under load, what a healthy spread looks like, and how to tell one failed module from a battery at the end of its life. This is the skill that decides whether a customer pays for a module or a pack.
What changed, and what did not
800-volt systems and the differences in how manufacturers isolate a pack for service. The procedure that is correct on a Prius is not automatically correct on a car built ten years later.
About the programme.
For technicians, shop owners and anyone thinking about the apprenticeship.

Who is the training for?
Earthling's own crew first, including apprentices and the people who mostly do brakes and tires, because the person most at risk around a high-voltage vehicle is the one who does not think they are working on one. Beyond that, technicians and shops elsewhere who want to take this work on.
Do you train your own apprentices?
Yes, paid and structured, with a curriculum rather than an ad-hoc apprenticeship. Brittany came through it and now appears by name in customer reviews, which is roughly the outcome we are aiming for.
Why does a repair shop run a training programme?
Because the alternative is a trade that cannot service the cars being sold. There is no commercial trick here: a shop that trains people who then work elsewhere still ends up in a trade with more competent technicians in it.
